Photography Contest (Deadline to Enter: SEPTEMBER 19)
The Lockwood Community Foundation is sponsoring a Photography Contest to be held from 8am-3pm in the Arvest Bank lobby during September Days in Lockwood. The contest will have 4 age divisions: Grade K-5, Grade 6-8, high school and adult; and 3 composition categories: Scenic, Animal, Portrait/People. Photos may be submitted in 4×6 size, 5×7 or 8×10; in black and white or in color. All photos should be turned into the Elementary Office, the High School Office, Lutheran School Office or Prairie Mercantile. Each Age/Composition Category will have a first place award of $20. Second and third place will receive ribbons. All ages will be eligible for the Best of Show award of $50 which will be voted by the community. Limit of 3 photos per entrant. Photo Contest Entry Forms can be picked up at the schools or at Prairie Mercantile.
There will be a Livestock show in the American Legion Lot during September Days. The show is open to all youth 18 and under, showing rabbits, poultry, goat, sheep, beef and dairy (including bucket calves). All livestock must be checked in by 9:30 am. Flyer | Entry Form
The Lockwood Chamber of Commerce is hosting a Fred Lemons Memorial Car Show to be held during September Days. Register at Easson’s anytime before 11. Participants are also invited to enter the September Days parade, line-up between Simmons Bank and the Lockwood Grade School at 9:30am, parade at 10am.
Make plans to bring your bundle of joy to the September Days Baby Show on Saturday, September 23 in Lockwood. The diapers-only baby show will take place on the main stage in the Arvest parking lot at 10:30am (immediately following the September Days parade). Registration will be held prior to the parade, from 9:30-10am near the Main Stage. Entries will be $5 and are open to any baby age 0-24 months.
A Quilt Show will be held in the Arvest Bank lobby during September Days. The Quilt Show is open to the public and all quilters. Check in for the Quilt Show will be from 10-12pm on Friday, September 22 at Arvest. At check in on Friday, there will be entry form to fill out (no pre-registration required). Quilts need to be folded and placed in a pillowcase with owner’s name on pillowcase. Quilts need to be picked up at 3:00 pm on Saturday (after awards).
The September Days parade will begin at 10am on Main Street and end at the nursing home. Line-up will be at 9:30am on 5th Street next to the Elementary School. If your alumni group, team, or school organization would like to be included in the parade, please email email@example.com
This year’s Recliner Races will be a Main Stage event. Recliners will be provided, 2 people per team. Free to enter, but limited to the first 16 teams. Under 18 must have a parent sign waiver. Register before 11am at the Mighty Mite drink booth in the Arvest Bank drive-thru. Preliminary rounds will be held at 11:10. Championship rounds will be at 12:30.
Games, Food & More
Local school and civic organizations will be providing food and entertainment throughout the day. New this year – all games will be covered by a $5 wristband. From bounce houses to bubble soccer and everything in-between, we’ll have something for everyone in the family!
Street Party with Food Trucks and Music
Beginning at 6:00pm, local talent will take the Main Stage. Two food trucks will be serving food, and an ice cream truck will be offering up sweet treats for dessert. There will be a beer garden in the American Legion Lot for those 21+ with DJ Keaton Oglesby providing entertainment.
